Fn browning 1922 pistol

I was trying to date it the other day on the Browning and FN sites but I couldn't find my serial number range on either site. I called Browning and they told me what I had already suspected, that this was an FN pistol made in Belgium and they (Browning) never had possession of the firearm.

So I called FN and gave the lady my serial number. She got back to me after about 2 hours of unsuccessful searching through FN databases.

She tried convincing me that I was not giving her the correct s/n's and then tried saying that she couldn't help me because FN had no record of this pistol either! Since this was an unregistered handmedown to me, I'm a criminal in the State of MD. So, I really wanted to date this piece to avoid registering it with the Maryland state polizei.

After that bad noise she gave me the number to FN's historian, Anthony Vanderlinden. I called him up and gave him the gist of things. He assured me that FN did not produce my hi power with those s/n's. He then asked for pictures.

I sent him these pics and after about 24hours he told me that this is indeed a German occupation FN high power during WW2. He had never seen these s/n ranges before and was shocked. He could not identify the markings near the magazine well though. Does anyone else have these???? Any help would be great Oh yeah, I have had this piece reblued.

I know it messes with the value but I'm never selling! FN doesn't need a new historian, in fact Vanderlinden specifically and fully describes 'WaA140 Fixed Sight Pistols (December 1942-early August 1944), First sub-variant: Standard serial Numbers (approximately 140,000 to 210,000) December 1942-April 1943' on page 298 of his book 'FN Browning Pistols'. WADR, it would appear someone was confused from the very beginning about the simple origins of 'Browning High Power' pistols. As we all know, on occasion confused people provide confusing information to those who are not confused.or at least should not be, which often results in further confusion for the confused person.

Sometimes that confused person comes to the internet and unknowingly memorializes their confusion. I'm reminded of the current TV commercial for an insurance company with the good looking blonde.you know, the one with the 'French model'.Bone-Joor.
